Due to its mild Mediterranean climate, tennis can be played on Lošinj almost the whole year round. Likewise, it was played here on the island as early as the beginning of the 20th century. There are numerous records and photographs of tennis get-togethers on the playgrounds in Bričina.
Following the 2nd World War, tennis fell out of favour on our island until the mid-sixties with the arrival of mass tourism and the building of tennis courts, when it again began to be extremely popular on Lošinj. It was against this background that the organisation of tennis tournaments and popular tennis schools started. And so it was that throughout the eighties, Goran Ivanišević and Iva Majoli, along with other tennis players.
