Exactly 150 years ago, history was made on the island of Lošinj – members of what is today the Josip Kašman Wind Orchestra gathered for the first time to perform a ceremonial concert marking the arrival of Emperor Franz Joseph to the island. It was the first public performance by the people of Lošinj in honor of the Emperor, and also the beginning of a century-and-a-half-long musical tradition that continues to this day.
To commemorate this anniversary, on May 2nd, 2025, a historical reenactment of Emperor Franz Joseph’s arrival will take place in Mali Lošinj, followed by the launch of a monograph titled "150 Years of the Josip Kašman Wind Orchestra” on May 13th, 2025, at the Vladimir Nazor Cinema in Mali Lošinj.

Program – May 2nd:
11:00 AM – Arrival of Emperor Franz Joseph in the Mali Lošinj harbor
11:15 AM – Ceremonial speech by Emperor Franz Joseph, Apoxyomenos Museum
11:45 AM – Meet-and-greet with citizens and boarding of the horse-drawn carriage
12:00 PM – Emperor’s carriage ride through the town accompanied by the J. Kašman Wind Orchestra parade
12:30 PM – Arrival at the Parish Church of the Blessed Virgin Mary square and gathering with the parish priest
